Inori (meaning "prayer", "wish", "grace") was born in an unknown world on the 2nd sun of the 5th umbral moon as a small pink dragoness with blue eyes.
She lived happily among her people and was a very sociable child with many friends.
One day, during a walk in the forest with her friends, she found a cave. Very cheerful, she told them: "Hey guys, come and see, there is a cave over there and let's go and see what's inside". They all laughed and went into the cave. The tallest one spat out flames to light up the dark cave. After walking a good kilometre through the galleries, they reached the centre of the cave. Their eyes were filled with wonder as they discovered a mountain of crystals, each more brilliant than the last.
"Look how wonderful it is!"
Inori reached for a blue crystal that shone brighter than the others and touched it. A resonance was felt throughout the cave and the ground began to tremble. All the little dragonets started to run to escape, but Inori remained frozen in place, hypnotised by the crystal. The cave collapsed and Inori disappeared from this world forever.

Lightning (real name Claire Farron) is a former member of the Civil Guard. She lived in Bodhum with her sister, a seaside town in Coccoon. Through her adventures, Lightning became a warrior in the service of the goddess Etro and was then elected to take on the role of Liberator, tasked with saving people's souls to turn back the clock on the end of the world.One day when she was leaving her house, she saw something in the water. Immediately Lightning ran into the water to see what it was. She discovered a naked girl unconscious and barely breathing. She had white scales and a dragon tail and beautiful pink hair.
Lightning picked up the girl and took her home.
She watched over her for several days before the girl woke up.
Inori opened her eyes slowly and panicked as she woke up in a body that felt foreign to her. Lightning immediately took her in her arms to reassure her and soothe her soul.
"Don't be afraid," she told her. Inori suddenly calmed down and stared at the person in front of her.
"My name is Claire Farron and what is your name?
Inori was surprised to understand the language of this person who did not look like a dragon at all.
In a shy voice she said "Inori, my name is Inori".

As the days passed, Inori learned to live in her half human, half dragon body. She grew up with Lightning and her sister and became part of the family. She learned to read and write, trained in combat, archery, magic and all sorts of skills.
A few years later, Inori cut her long hair to resemble her older sister and became a Liberator's apprentice like Lightning. A new adventurer named Inori Farron entered the big leagues.
One night Inori had a vision of her past, she saw herself touching the crystal in the cave, her vision went black. When she woke up, she found herself in a carriage to a city called Gridania.
